The world’s oldest man, Briton John Tuniswood, died at the age of 112 at the care home where he lived in Southport, northwest England, Guinness World Records said on Tuesday, citing his family. Tuniswood was born and died in Liverpool on 26 August 1912. He became the world’s oldest person after the death of 114-year-old Venezuelan Vicente Perez in April. “His last day was surrounded by music and love,” the family said in a statement., “also thanked all those who have cared for him over the years.” Born the same year the Titanic sank and lived through two world wars, Tenniswood told Guinness World Records that the secret to his longevity was “pure luck”. “You either live a long life or you live a short one, and there’s not much you can do about it,” he said. Nevertheless, he advised moderation in everything to stay healthy
