US issues “Do not travel to KP” alert to its citizens

The US Mission in Pakistan has issued a travel alert for its personnel and US citizens not to travel to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from November 27 to December 16. Club area through Dec. 16 and to remain vigilant, review personal safety plans, stay updated through local media, carry identification, and cooperate with authorities. The US government has maintained a Level 4 ‘Do Not Travel’ alert for Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).. The region faces frequent attacks by terrorist and insurgent groups targeting civilians, NGOs, government offices and security forces. According to the advisory, threats include assassinations, kidnappings and attacks on polio vaccination teams. The advisory issued on September 10, 2024 emphasized, “Attempts to kill and abduct are common, including targeting polio eradication teams and Pakistani security personnel.” Emphasis is placed on American citizens
