PTI leaders resign ahead of protest call; police arrests party figures

Ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) call for protest on November 24, there have been reports of differences in the party’s district organization in Peshawar. PTI Peshawar Chapter Senior Vice President Malik Aslam and General Secretary Taqir Ali have resigned from their posts. Posts Destiny Ali also announced his resignation in a video message.

It is being said that these resignations are due to a dispute over the distribution of posts and more resignations are expected from Peshawar district in the coming days. Central leadership of the partySources said the resignations are trying to convince the officials to reverse their decision. Talking to the media, PTI Peshawar Region President Arbab Asim said that there are minor differences in the party. He said that the issue of distribution of posts will be resolved. Meanwhile, the capital city police have started rounding up PTI leaders and workers.A protest has been planned in Islamabad on November 24. CCTV footage of the police raids has surfaced, showing late-night raids on the homes of several leaders and activists in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, media reports said. Dozens of workers including Shoaib Shaheen have reportedly been detained. PTI General Secretary Raja Ghazanfar has also been arrested.
