A multi-million pound funding package has been set up to create thousands of jobs at the Coventry and Warwick gigaparks.Plans for a battery manufacturing and technology hub, which will create thousands of new jobs in the West Midlands, took a major step a few days ago.Mayor Richard Parker has announced a £23 million funding package to power up the Coventry and Warwick Gigapark, a dedicated energy supply facility, which will support large-scale battery production, green power. Park, including the UK’s Center for Electrification and Clean Energy.This major investment by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) will make this key investment zone site ready for development.This will position the region in a pole position to secure major international investment to attract battery manufacturers and other related electric vehicle and energy storage supply chain businesses.Fully developed, Gigapark could create 6 jobs in battery manufacturing and the EV supply chain.The funding, approved by the WMCA board at a meeting, will also pay for related infrastructure works and technical assessments required for a detailed planning application.
