Sunil Gavaskar expresses concerns over future of Asia Cup and ACC

Mumbai: Former Indian cricket team captain and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar has raised questions over the future of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and expressed serious concerns regarding the Asia Cup 2025 scheduled for September this year.
In a recent statement, Sunil Gavaskar said that considering the current political and cricketing situation, it is possible that Pakistan will not participate in the Asia Cup. He said that the next few months will be decisive in this regard and the situation will have to be carefully assessed.
Gavaskar said that if India does not become a part of the Asia Cup, then as an alternative, a separate tournament can be organized in India by inviting Asian teams. However, he warned that if both the big teams—Pakistan and India—withdraw from the Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council will suffer a serious loss and serious questions may arise on the future of the organization.
Sunil Gavaskar’s statement has sparked a new debate on the politics of cricket and the future of the game in the region, where the eyes of both fans and experts are now focused on the ACC’s next decisions.
