Sindh announces public holiday on Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s Urs

The Sindh government announced public holiday on the annual Urs of Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Muhammad Usman Marwandi (Lal Shahbaz Qalandar) across the province.According to a notification issued by the Sindh government, there will be a public holiday across the province on Feb 19.A large number of devotees from across the country have already reached Sehwan Sharif to attend Urs celebrations.The Urs celebrations will formally begin from Feb 17.Strict security arrangements have been ensured to avoid any untoward incident.The streets of Sehwan Sharif are flooded with the devotees these days wearing the symbolic red and black dresses.Earlier in the day, a van carrying pilgrims collided with a tractor-trailer in Nawabshah’s Qazi Ahmed Town.According to police, the accident claimed six lives while 10 passengers suffered injuries.Officials noted that the pilgrims had traveled to Nawabshah from Punjab and were traveling towards Sehwan Sharif for Urs celebrations.
