Setback for Australia as Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood ruled out of Champions Trophy

Australian captain Pat Cummins and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood have been ruled out of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.Cummins, who sustained an ankle injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, has yet to recover. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is also sidelined due to hip and calf strain.Meanwhile, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh remains out due to a back injury, requiring further rehabilitation.Adding to Australia’s concerns, batting all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has announced his immediate retirement from ODI cricket. Stoinis was initially included in the Champions Trophy squad.As a result, Australia will need to make four changes to their preliminary squad, with an official announcement expected after the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka.
