Federal Prime Minister Nazir Tarar briefed the Senate about salaries, allowances and other benefits of federal ministers. During the Senate’s Question Time, Minister Tarar gave detailed information about the salaries and allowances of Members of Parliament, saying that Members of National Assembly (MNAs) receive Rs 156,000 per month. However, he clarified that no vehicles are provided to them. With parliamentarians allocated only Rs 8,000 per month for utility bills. Additionally, ministers are allotted a 1500cc car and 400 liters of petrol, but have to pay their own electricity and gas bills, as they do not get any other government perks. On the subject of possible salary hikes, Tarr highlighted that Parliament often provides economic while the Ministry of Home Affairs submitted a written response with reference to the national database.Implementation of austerity measures by Registration Authority (NADRA). NADRA has not purchased any vehicle in the last two years in line with its cost reduction policy, the ministry said. However, in 2022, NADRA purchased 35 vehicles worth Rs 264.3 million for personnel transportation and operational purposes.
