PTA requests Ministry of Interior for extension in VPNs registration

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has requested the Ministry of Interior to extend the last date of VPN registration. According to PTA sources, the VPN deadline, which was set at November 30, is nearing. The VPN registration process has been accelerated with 200 VPNs being registered daily. The PTA revealed that stakeholders were consulted for the VPN. Registration is in progressWhile they requested for an extension in the last date of registration. According to PTA sources, stakeholders demanded more time and a simplified procedure for registration of VPNs. Ministry of Home Affairs has issued guidelines for registration of unregistered VPNs. According to sources, only the jurisdiction to extend the deadline rests with the Ministry of Home Affairs. This is worth considering. PTA has announcedAccording to the instructions of the Ministry of Interior, all unregistered and illegal VPNs will be blocked from December 1.
