A marginal increase in petrol prices by 81 paise per liter and a reduction in diesel prices by Rs 3.94 per liter have been proposed for the next fortnight starting from 16 December 2024. These adjustments are based on price trends observed during the first 12 days of the current fortnight, which are influenced by international market volatility following the regime change in Syria.So petroleum prices are likely to fall further. Currently, globally, crude oil and petroleum products are in abundant supply, but demand is low. Petrol price is likely to rise by 81 paise to Rs 252 92 paise per liter from December 16. Meanwhile, diesel prices are expected to drop by Rs 3.94 to Rs 254.53 per liter as against the current Rs 258.43.. The Finance Ministry had issued a notification to revise the prices of petroleum products for the next fortnight starting from December 1. Petrol rose by Rs 3.72 per litre, taking the new price to Rs 252.10 per litre. High Speed Diesel (HSD) saw an increase of Rs 3.29 per litre, bringing its new price to Rs 258.43 per litre.In contrast, kerosene became cheaper by 62 paise per liter and the price of light diesel fell by 48 paise per litre.
