Pakistan’s effective response to the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, decision to give diplomatic notice to India

Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to give a formal diplomatic notice, adopting a responsible and strong stance on India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, which will not only highlight Pakistan’s legal rights but will also inform the international community about the facts.
According to sources, the initial homework has been completed after detailed consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Law. In this consultation, the importance of the Indus Waters Treaty, legal requirements and the effects of India’s violation have been closely examined.
In the diplomatic notice to be given by Pakistan, concrete reasons for the suspension of the treaty will be sought from India. At the same time, consideration is also being given to raising an effective voice at all possible forums to expose India’s water aggression at the global level.
According to officials, Pakistan has legal precedence over the Indus Waters Treaty and has always fully complied with it in the past, which is a manifestation of respect for international laws and principles. It is hoped that in the light of international pressure and facts, India will have to reconsider its frivolous decision.
This step is not only an effort to protect Pakistan’s water rights, but also a positive message that Pakistan is a responsible country following international laws and the path of peace.
All steps will be taken only after the approval of the Prime Minister and the federal cabinet, which also highlights Pakistan’s democratic process and transparent decision-making.
