Maulana Fazlur Rehman Meets Iranian Ambassador, Emphasizes Regional Peace and Unity

Islamabad – Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, met with Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Moqaddami at the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, where both leaders discussed regional stability, Pakistan-India tensions, and Muslim unity.

According to a spokesperson from JUI-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed deep sorrow and solidarity over the recent bomb blast in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, terming it a tragic loss and offering condolences to the people of Iran.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the evolving political landscape in the region. Discussing the rising tensions between Pakistan and India, Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to pursue a confrontational approach in the region, relying on “war politics” for political survival. He stated that Pakistan has the full capability to respond to any provocation with strength and resolve.

In a significant development, the two leaders agreed on the need for enhanced collaboration to promote peace, stability, and dialogue in South Asia. The Iranian ambassador extended a formal invitation to Maulana Fazlur Rehman to visit Iran to further strengthen bilateral and interfaith relations.

Ambassador Moqaddami also lauded Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s consistent and bold stance on the Palestinian cause, calling it a reflection of the unified sentiment of the Muslim Ummah. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to continued cooperation among Muslim nations on critical international issues.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding that dialogue, unity, and regional cooperation remain essential tools for long-term peace in the Muslim world.
