Main gate of Parliament House closed, reports of possible arrest of PTI members

Islamabad: The situation at Parliament House in the federal capital became tense when the main gate of Parliament House was suddenly closed. Sources say that the possibility of arrest of some important members of PTI is being expressed, in view of which security has been tightened.

Today, during the session of the National Assembly, a strong protest was held by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). A resolution regarding Kashmir Exploitation Day was also passed during the session. However, PTI members decided to go to Adiala Jail as a symbolic protest after addressing the assembly.

PTI member Aamir Dogar, while expressing his views in the house, said:
“You have sentenced our members to 10, 10 years, 10 members were removed from the house and no action was taken. How will this house function if everyone is thrown out?”

To this, the speaker replied that there is a record of whether production orders were issued or not.

After the meeting, opposition alliance leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Salman Akram Raja, and Latif Khosa left for Adiala Jail, where the PTI protest was to take place, while the rest of the members are still present in the Parliament House.

According to sources, some PTI members have also been advised to avoid going to the jail.

Meanwhile, the main gate of the Parliament House was closed with chains and locks, and a heavy contingent of police and FC was deployed. Prisoner vans and anti-riot forces are also present outside the Parliament House. It is reported that more than 30 PTI members are present in the opposition lobby inside the Parliament House, who are consulting on whether to leave or go to jail.

PTI Chief Whip Aamir Dogar, Ali Muhammad Khan, Shehryar Afridi and Sanaullah Mastikhel headed to the Speaker’s Office and demanded that the gate be opened.

The situation is critical at the moment, and security agencies are on alert to deal with any emergency. No official statement has yet been made by the government or the Ministry of Interior.
