Love Island USA star Hannah Smith faces felony charges for threats and obstruction after 2024 arrest

Hannah Smith, 27, a former Love Island USA contestant, faces two felony charges following her September 30, 2024, arrest in Atlanta, according to Cobb County court documents obtained by PEOPLE.Smith was arrested after allegedly yelling and behaving disorderly at a concert venue and later threatening and attempting to punch a police officer. On January 15, 2025, Cobb County prosecutor Sonya Allen formally charged her with obstruction of officers and making terroristic threats.Prosecutors claim Hannah Smith “knowingly and willfully obstruct[ed] Cobb County Police Department Officer Kayla Winkfield in the lawful discharge of her official duties” by lunging at the officer and attempting to punch and kick her.The charging document further alleges that Smith made statements “suggesting the death of Kayla Winkfield with the purpose of terrorizing Kayla Winkfield” and “threatening to kill Kayla Winkfield.”During the September 2024 incident, Love Island USA star Hannah Smith was reportedly intoxicated while being escorted out of a concert venue, according to police records obtained by PEOPLE. She allegedly punched an EMS staff member on the arm, although the individual declined to press charges.Smith then attempted to punch a police officer assisting her but missed. After being restrained on the ground and placed under arrest, she allegedly tried to kick the officer multiple times without making contact. While being transported to jail, Smith reportedly threatened to kill the officer and the officer’s sister repeatedly.Smith was booked into jail around 11:45 p.m. and later released on an $8,000 bond. Her release conditions include abstaining from alcohol, marijuana, and non-prescribed drugs, with random testing required.Hannah Smith was a fan favorite on Season 6 of Love Island USA but had a short stint on the show, becoming the first day-one contestant to be eliminated from the villa.
