Journalists protest against PICA Act in Britain too

Resistance against the PICA Act continues at the international level. In this regard, journalists protested in the UK as well.In Pakistan, the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) has been criticized by the journalist community and human rights activists as a restriction on freedom of expression. The protest has now reached the UK, where an emergency meeting organized by the International Journalists Council of Pakistan (IJCOP) was held in Bradford. The meeting was attended by officials of the organization, well-known journalists. Speakers during the meeting strongly condemned the PICA Act, calling it a “black law”.They said the law has become a threat to journalists, social media activists, and human rights activists in Pakistan and aims to stifle freedom of expression and silence anti-government voices. It has been unanimously demanded in the meeting that this law of the PICA Act should be withdrawn immediately and if the PICA Act is not withdrawn, then protest against it all over the world by boycotting all official and government events in the UK. This includes the United Nations, the European Union, and other international organizations.
