Iran will respond more severely if attacked again, Ayatollah Khamenei warns

Tehran:
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned that if the country is attacked again, Iran will respond in a much tougher and more decisive manner than in the previous action. According to him, Iran’s missile attack on the US military base in Qatar was an initial warning and the real show of force is yet to come.

In a state TV statement, Ayatollah Khamenei said:
“Our nation stands like a lead wall in front of the US and its pet Zionist regime. If attacked again, we will strike much deeper than the US base.”

The statement comes as tensions in the region are rising and the possibility of a confrontation with Israel and the US over Iran’s nuclear facilities is growing.

Pressure on nuclear talks
The US, Britain, France and Germany are urging Iran to resume nuclear talks by the end of August. Otherwise, the UN could impose tough global sanctions on Iran.

Iranian parliament and diplomats take a tough stance
The Iranian parliament has said that there is no possibility of talks unless the US withdraws its preconditions. The Supreme Leader has instructed Iranian diplomats to work with full preparation and guidance at the international level, but he did not disclose the details of this guidance.

Analysis:
Iran’s tough stance comes at a time when tensions in the region are at their peak and the revival of the nuclear deal is uncertain. World powers are increasing diplomatic pressure on Iran, while Tehran has adopted an aggressive tone, which could be a precursor to further tensions and a possible confrontation in the near future.
