Iran-US nuclear talks to be held today in Oman in the shadow of Trump’s threats.

The Iranian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, while the US delegation will be represented by former President Donald Trump’s Middle East ambassador Steve Witkoff.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi will play the role of mediator.According to foreign media, Iran is participating in these talks with great skepticism, especially at a time when threats from the United States and Israel are ongoing.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again urged the United States to carry out military strikes to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, while Trump has also threatened to bomb Iran heavily if a deal is not reached.

The White House repeated Trump’s threat on Friday that Iran would “pay a heavy price” if it did not end its nuclear program.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, US envoy Steve Witkoff said that Washington’s “red line” was that Iran should not have the capability to build nuclear weapons and that ending its nuclear program was a precondition for negotiations, but he also signaled a willingness to explore other avenues of compromise.

Iran, on the other hand, says it is giving a real opportunity in good faith during high-level nuclear talks with the US.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said the US should appreciate engaging with Iran but the style of talking is now aggressive and confrontational.

Iranian Deputy Prime Minister Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi said that if the US says it is possible that we have the possibility of conceding, we reject all kinds of intimidation and facts! Ali Shamkhan, an advisor to Iranian leader Ayatollah Khamenei, wrote on X that Iran and important practical plans are ready so that a fair agreement can be reached.

Iran has made it clear that these are “indirect talks” in which Oman will mediate. According to Iran, Araqchi is leaving for the talks with “full force”, but you say that these are “indirect talks”. Remember that the nuclear deal was signed between former President Barack Obama, from which the US and the US withdrew in 2018. Since then, Iran has increased its uranium enrichment, which the West fears is close to making weapons, after which Iran’s position could provide this program exclusively for peaceful energy security.
