India’s aggression affects IPL too, Australian players start considering return

New Delhi/Sydney — India’s growing aggression against Pakistan has now spread to sports, where the Indian Premier League (IPL) has also become a victim of uncertainty. According to Australian media, several Australian players and coaches involved in the IPL have started considering leaving India due to security concerns.

According to sources, 15 Australian players and 2 coaches are currently in India, including eminent personalities like Pat Cummins, Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer. Due to the current situation, these players are consulting on various options to return to Australia or Dubai.

Yesterday, the ongoing IPL match in Dharamshala had to be abruptly canceled. During the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, first the floodlights malfunctioned in the 11th over, and later the match was completely abandoned due to security concerns. Meanwhile, the fans in the stadium were immediately evacuated.

International analysts say that sports convey a message of peace, tolerance and brotherhood, but due to India’s irresponsible policies, the reputation of a major event like the IPL is also being affected. If the situation continues, the chances of the league being postponed or the withdrawal of foreign players may increase further.

Meanwhile, cricket fans have appealed to keep sports separate from politics and have expressed hope that the situation will improve and the playing fields will be populated again.
