ICC announces nominees for April 2025 Women’s Player of the Month award, Fatima Sana’s outstanding performance

LAHORE (Special Correspondent) — The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for April 2025, including Pakistan Women’s team captain Fatima Sana, West Indies captain Hayley Mathews, and Scotland captain Catherine Bruce.
Fatima Sana played a key role in her team’s unbeaten campaign by putting in a stellar performance in the Women’s World Cup qualifiers held in Lahore last month. She took 12 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 3.97, including 4 wickets for just 23 runs in 5 overs against Scotland, which was her best bowling performance. In addition, Fatima Sana also played a key role in the batting, especially her innings of 62 against Thailand, which further enhanced her performance.
The Pakistani captain faces tough competition from West Indies’ Hayley Mathews and Scotland’s Catherine Bruce for this award. Mathews took 13 wickets in five innings and scored 240 runs, including a brilliant century. In addition, she scored a match-winning century by taking four wickets against Scotland and played a sizzling innings of 70 runs off 29 balls in the final match of the qualifier.
Scotland’s captain Catherine Bruce also led her team with an all-round performance. Bruce scored 293 runs and took 6 wickets in five innings, including an unbeaten 131 off 137 balls, which was declared the highest individual innings of the qualifiers. In addition, they were also awarded the Player of the Tournament.
