Govt meets IMF condition with approval of civil servants’ asset declaration law

The federal government has met another IMF condition by approving a law requiring civil servants to declare their assets.A new Section 15-A has been added to the Civil Servant Act 1973, regulating government employee’s financial conduct. Under the law, Grade 17 to 22 officers must publicly disclose their domestic and foreign assets, including those of their families, through the FBR and an official website.The Establishment Division will have access to these assets details, balancing public interest and privacy.Sensitive information such as CNIC, addresses, and bank details will remain confidential, with FBR ensuring data security.The move aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the bureaucracy while complying with IMF’s financial monitoring requirements.
