Govt has shown lack of commitment to initiate dialogue: Gohar

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Saturday claimed that the government had shown a lack of commitment to initiate dialogue.Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad, Khan said: ‘The PTI had approached the government with sincerity and goodwill to initiate dialogue.”We sat for discussions with genuine intent and open hearts,’ he said. The PTI chairman stressed that negotiations were the best course of action and lamented that the government did not reciprocate.Khan said: ‘The PTI had urged the government to announce a judicial commission within seven days. We specifically asked the government to make an official announcement within a week, but no steps were taken,’ he said.’If the commission could not be formed, there was no point in sitting for mere photo sessions or hollow exchanges,’ Khan asserted.Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja announced on Saturday that opposition members would not participate in the upcoming fourth round of talks with the government.Speaking to the media outside a court in Islamabad, Akram Raja clearly stated, “We are not going to participate in the talks on 28th January. We have a clear narrative in this regard.”Raja further criticized the government, saying, “They [the rulers] want to escape. We want to bring the reality in front of everybody, but they [the rulers] are not daring enough to hear the truth.”Reflecting on the general elections held on February 8 last year, Raja emphasized, “The masses should know everything about what happened on February 8 last year.”Raja indicated that the opposition would continue to weigh all available options, stating, “We will formulate the next strategy as all the options are open for us.”
