Electricity prices likely to decrease for Karachi consumers

The K-Electric has submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for reducing power tariff.The company has sought a reduction of Rs4.95 per unit on account of fuel cost adjustment. It the application is approved, the electricity consumers in Karachi will get a relief of Rs4.94 billion.The regulatory authority will conduct hearing on the KE application on February 26.Earlier this month, the government reduced electricity rates by up to Rs1.23 per unit. The consumers of distribution companies will receive a benefit of Rs1.22 per unit, while K-Electric users will see a Rs1.23 cut.The prices were reduced in wake of the monthly fuel price adjustment.
