Dumpers’ entry into Karachi in daytime banned

In the wake of rising deaths on roads due to reckless driving of dumper drivers, the Sindh government has banned the entry of vehicles into the city in daytime.However, they could enter the city at 11pm to 6am. On the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh chief secretary held a meeting regarding recent traffic accidents, which claimed many lives.Sindh IG, Karachi Commissioner, Karachi Additional IG, Secretary Transport, DIG Traffic and other officers attended the meeting.In the meeting, the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board was directed to shift its operation to night time within three months.The meeting also decided to carry out physical verification of all heavy vehicles plying in the city and their drivers.The Sindh government decided that all the vehicles on city roads should have a QR code certificate issued by the transport department, besides the chief secretary directed inspection of all water tankers of Water Board in a month.He directed motorcyclists to wear helmets and traffic police to increase enforcement.The chief secretary also directed the Information Department to launch a media campaign for awareness about traffic rules.He ordered the traffic police to register FIRs along with challans against those who drive recklessly, adding speeding was the main reason for the accidents, besides non-implementation of traffic laws.The Sindh government decided to start Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (VICS) in the province.The chief secretary directed the DIG Traffic to implement traffic rules strictly and increase traffic challans by 4 times.
