Bilawal urges Centre to provide cheap electricity

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Sindh no longer trusts the federal government’s electricity supply and demanded that power be provided at an affordable rate.Speaking at a luncheon held at the Royal Taj Marquee near Bilawal House in Clifton, organized in honor of Karachi’s business community, Bilawal stressed the need for Sindh to produce its own electricity.PPP Chairman Bilawal declared, “We must generate our own power. Just as Saudi Arabia has oil, we have coal.”Addressing concerns of the business community, he urged traders to share their grievances directly with him rather than complaining to others.He stated, “If you have any complaints against me, tell me. No need to gossip elsewhere. Name the officers who harassed you and tell me what they did.”Bilawal assured the business community that the PPP government in Sindh fully accepts responsibility for solving their issues. He said, “Addressing Sindh’s problems is our duty. If you have complaints, bring them to us.”He also pointed out a major improvement in Karachi’s law-and-order situation, adding, “No one is extorting money from you today, and unlike the past, traders’ lives in Karachi are no longer at risk.”During the event, Faisal Moiz, President of the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, highlighted Karachi’s economic contributions.He revealed that the city accounts for 54% of Pakistan’s total exports and contributes 68% of the country’s tax revenue while also providing 95% of the Sindh Revenue Board’s tax collection.Despite these contributions, he lamented that Karachi’s infrastructure remains in a state of complete disrepair.
