Pakistan rejects hybrid model for Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) ahead of the ICC Board of Directors meeting on Friday. According to sources, the PCB has ruled out sharing the responsibilities with any other country while reiterating its stand on retaining exclusive hosting rights for the tournament. Before the meeting, PCB officials made it clear that Pakistan is ready to host the event independently.and will not accept terms that undermine its sovereignty as a host. “If the ICC has a workable solution to the current deadlock, it should share it with us before the meeting so that we can be prepared and work towards a solution,” said a PCB insider. A CB insider said, “Pakistani team traveling to India is unacceptable. For matches while they refuse to send their team to Pakistan.” AEarlier in a press conference, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that all decisions will be taken in the best interest of Pakistani cricket. He said that we will field our strong team for the Champions Trophy and will take steps to secure the future of our cricket. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through its media channels has reportedly expressed security concerns over hosting the event in Pakistan.
