U.S. Encourages Peaceful Resolution Between India and Pakistan Amid Pahalgam Tragedy

Washington, D.C. — In a strong show of diplomatic engagement, the United States has reiterated its commitment to fostering peace and stability in South Asia, urging both India and Pakistan to pursue a responsible and peaceful resolution following the recent tragic incident in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, most of them tourists.
Speaking at a press briefing, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized the ongoing efforts by the U.S. to maintain open lines of communication with both nations. “Secretary Rubio has reached out to his Indian counterpart and to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, encouraging both countries to take meaningful steps toward a resolution that ensures long-term peace and regional stability,†she said.
Highlighting Washington’s active diplomatic role, Bruce added, “There is a constant involvement. This government is in constant communication. We are asking for a responsible resolution from both parties.â€
She also reaffirmed the U.S.’s support for India in its fight against terrorism. “As President Trump conveyed to Prime Minister Modi last week, the United States stands strong with India against terrorism. Prime Minister Modi has our full support,†Bruce stated.
Despite the recent tensions, U.S. diplomatic engagement signals hope for dialogue and stability in the region, reflecting the international community’s shared interest in peaceful coexistence and mutual cooperation.
