Internet speed in country will improve soon, says Ahsan Iqbal

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal said on Monday that the speed of internet would soon improve in the country.Addressing a press conference in Karachi with Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah sitting beside him, Ahsan said that work on the development projects in Sindh being funded by the federal government would not stop.”Nobody has any objection to Urran Pakistan project,” he said, adding, “Even the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was taken on board on the project, which will prove to be instrumental in the country’s development.”On the release of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan from the Adiala Jail, the minister said that if the PTI founder wanted to secure his release, he should show his ‘receipts’ of the precious gifts he received from foreign dignitaries. “What a pity that a man who demanded receipts from others so that they could prove themselves innocent in corruption cases, himself had shown ‘fake’ receipts.”Ahsan said that Pakistan was confronted with an undeclared war, the purpose of which was to destabilize it.He went on to say that both the PML-N and the PPP had different ideologies and divergent views on a variety of issues. “But when it comes to the country’s development, both parties are on the same page.”The number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan reached 193,238,238 million, with a mobile teledensity of 79.10 percent, by the end of November 2024, according to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).The data also revealed that mobile broadband subscribers have grown to 139 million, achieving a mobile penetration rate of 56.90 percent. In addition, fixed telephone subscribers stood at 3 million, reflecting a fixed teledensity of 1.10 percent, while broadband subscribers totaled 143 million, with a broadband penetration rate of 58.39 percent.
