The first alleged statement of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad after the overthrow of his government and his escape from the country has come to light.According to the foreign news agency, in a statement issued on the Telegram account of the Syrian President’s office, Bashar al-Assad said that he was in Syria until the night of December 8.Bashar al-Assad said in his statement that after the advance of the rebels, they moved to the Hmeimim military base in Latakia, which is held by the Russian army.He said that he was transferred from Syria to Russia due to drone attacks on the Russian military base.Bashar al-Assad said that the country is now in the hands of terrorists.He said that he never sought any position for personal gain and that he believed till the end in the ability of the people to protect the state, defend its institutions and uphold their choice.He further said that when the state falls into the hands of terrorists and loses its ability to play a meaningful role, a position no longer has any purpose, and being in that position becomes meaningless.
