Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel of the Supreme Court has raised questions on the justification of trying civilians under the disciplinary framework of the armed forces. His remarks came during the hearing of intra-court appeals against the decisions of military courts. A seven-member constitution bench of the Supreme Court heard the case. The bench was headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan. Other members of the bench include Justice Mandukhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Justice Musrat Hilali and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan were involved. Senior lawyer Khawaja Haris represented the federal government in the case. Copies of the FIR were not provided to the Supreme Court.
