Pakistan’s former intelligence chief Lt Gen Retired Faiz Hameed has been formally indicted for involvement in political activities and a report has revealed his ties to more than 50 politicians. Ex-army generals holding important posts are being investigated for direct involvement in political activities. Links with many politicians, mostly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).. A report shared by a senior journalist said that General Faiz was in touch with around 50 political figures and the probe is particularly focused on his interactions with PTI Chairman Imran Khan. After his retirement, however, Faiz maintained contact with the PTI leader through various channels, according to the book. Some politicians and individuals are allegedly involved with the ISI chief. General Faiz reportedly did not stop his activities despite several warnings from military authorities regarding his post-retirement political activities. After his arrest, Imran Khan distanced himself from the ISI chief, and his legal team insisted that the arrest was an internal military issue unrelated to the PTI. People familiar with the development claimed that Imran Khan and his political aides had arrested former ISI chief Faiz Hameed.
