Manchester Victoria station has been evacuated with armed police on the scene today.
National Rail confirmed a “safety inspection” was taking place, reports the Manchester Evening News, our sister title.
National Rail say the safety inspection of a train at Manchester Victoria is ‘blocking all lines’ on Monday, April 29.
A statement on the National Rail website reads: “Trains running through this station may be cancelled or delayed.
“Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
Travellers are being asked to check their journeys ahead of travel.

In a statement British Transport Police said: “BTP officers were called to Manchester Victoria station at 3pm on 29/04 following a report of a suspicious package on board a train.
“Upon review the item was found to be a piece of lost property.
“The station had been evacuated while officers investigated the report.
“It has since been reopened.”
